The right access equipment

You have analysed the situation, assessed possible hazards and come up with the appropriate safety measures? Now comes the decisive step:

Selecting the right item of access equipment

Different groups of access resources are available to cater for the specific requirements of a particular “high level job” and at the same time ensure maximum safety.

The following overview of ZARGES products offers you the opportunity to select the right item of access equipment for your individual application:

Step stools – compact and clever

ZARGES steps

1) Machine steps, rigid
2) Work Platform, folding

As a rule step stools feature up to four treads and, due to the nature of their construction, even the top tread or platform is safe to stand on.

The maximum platform height is 1.00 m. Step stools can be either folding or rigid.

Step stools are suitable for short jobs involving a low level of risk. They are for use when working at heights of up to 3.00 metres (working height = platform height + 2.00 mm).

Examples of use:

  • Assembly work at low levels
  • Cleaning jobs
  • Access to machines

Standards:
Step stools comply with the standard DIN EN 14 183.

See ZARGES step stools and safety steps in the products section. ZARGES offers many steps and step stools for commerce and industry.

Ladders – tall and lightweight

ZARGES Ladders

1) Rung-type single ladder with 30x30 mm deep rungs
2) Push-up and ropeoperated ladders
3) Step-ladder with treads e.g. with 80 mm deep
Safer Step treads (www.safer-step.de)
4) 3-section multi-pur

Ladders can be quickly deployed and are very light and compact in terms of their dimensions. We differentiate between single ladders, stepladders and multi-purpose ladders; in addition, there are ladders with rungs and ladders with treads.

Ladders are primarily suited to short-duration jobs involving low levels of risk and as a means of access to workstations.

Examples of use:

  • Measuring and alignment work
  • Changing lamps
  • Access to a workstation
  • Tightening and releasing anchorages

Standards:
Ladders comply with the standard DIN EN 131. In addition some models of ladder also comply with:
British standards BS2037 Class 1,
Swedish standards INSTA 650.

See ZARGES ladders in the product section. ZARGES offers many different types of ladders for commerce and industry. See also spare parts for ladders.

ZAP Work Platform – mobile and comfortable

ZARGES work platforms

1) ZAP Platform Steps
2) ZAP Telescopic Platform Ladder

ZARGES Work Platforms (ZAP) feature a generously-proportioned surface that offers increased stability. Because of this they enable work to be carried out where the use of both hands is required. The ZAPs are fitted with integral castors which make them easy to move and they are suitable for mobile applications. Robust bars (foot and knee level) and a railing ensure additional safety.

Work platforms are appropriate for longer jobs involving the use of heavy materials or tooling. They bridge the gap between a ladder and a mobile scaffold.

Example of use:

  • Lengthy maintenance and inspection jobs
  • Work with machines
  • Lengthy “overhead” jobs
  • Shelf-work involving bulky and/or heavy items

Standards:
Work platforms comply with the standard DIN EN 131 as well as the stability and guardrail protection levels specified in BGI 637.

See ZARGES work platforms and platform steps in the product section. ZARGES offers many mobile and stationary work platforms for commerce and industry.

Mobile Scaffolding – height and stability

ZARGES mobile scaffolding

1) Scaffolding with stabilisers
2) Scaffolding with chassis beams

Mobile scaffolds feature a very large working platform with minimum dimensions of 0.75 x 1.80 m and are easy to move about on swivel castors. They provide a comfortable and safe workstation at high levels (up to 12.00 m platform height) and are also available for use by several persons at the same time if necessary (scaffolding group 3, load capacity up to 200 kg/m2). Guardrails and knee rails together with toeboards offer allround protection.

Various types of scaffolding are available eg. with stabilisers and chassis beams as well as folding scaffold units.

Examples of use:

  • Fitting name plates at high levels
  • Dry construction work
  • Maintenance and repairs to factory ceilings
  • Work of lengthy duration on walls or facades (e.g. window installation)

Standards:
Mobile scaffolding complies with the standard DIN EN 1004 (Issue
03/2005). ZARGES mobile scaffolding is approved in accordance
with “Scaffolding Category 3” (load capacity up to 200 kg/m²).

See ZARGES mobile scaffoldings in the product section. ZARGES offers a variety of mobile scaffoldings for commerce and industry.

Lift – infinitely variable and safe

ZARGES lifts

Lifts and/or Mobile Elevated Work Platforms make it possible to carry out activities at high levels (approx. 14.00 m); they are suitable for work that requires both hands and are particularly safe thanks to the use of bars and railings. They offer infinitely variable and flexible height adjustment at the push of a button – for this reason, lifts are also regarded as the most convenient and comfortable solution for “high level work”.

Lifts can either be operated manually or be automotive.

Examples of use:

  • Maintenance of ceilings in department stores and factory premises
  • Decorating large rooms or halls
  • Window cleaning
  • Servicing of ventilation or heating systems

Standards:
Lifts are CE-tested and comply with the European functional and safety standards to DIN EN 280.

See ZARGES lifts in the product section. ZARGES offers many types of lifts for commerce and industry: Automatic lifts, lifts for indoor and outdoor, etc.

Industrial Equipment – modular and flexible

Specially tailored to the specific requirements of industry, our range of industrial equipment includes industrial equipment, mobile work platforms, bridging and steps in modular construction.

The products offer maximum flexibility, safety and ergonomics for the user. And, due to their modular construction, tailormade, customer-specific solutions – designed using standard components – are also possible.

A number of requirements can be met using standard products but not all.

Mobile Work Platforms – ease and flexibility

Platform steps:
access from one side only

Mobile work platforms feature a large platform. Guardrails, kneerails and toeboards offer additional safety, four castors turn them into flexible and easily movable items of equipment.

Examples of use:

  • Lengthy maintenance and inspection jobs
  • Mobile access to high-level workstations
  • Installation work with a heavy item of equipment
  • Shelf work involving bulky and/or heavy items

Standards:
Mobile work platforms comply with the requirements of BG Information Sheet BGI 637.

See ZARGES work platforms in the product section of industrial equipment.

Bridging and Steps – stationary and safe

Bridging, stationary use

Bridging may serve either as a stationary or a mobile walkway over in-plant obstacles. Deep treads and a roomy platform ensure ease of ascent and descent. Additional safety features include guardrails, kneerails and toeboards.

Examples of use:

  • Bridging over production lines

Standards:
Bridging complies with the standard DIN EN ISO 14 122 for stationary use in industrial plants and BGI 637 in the case of mobile applications.

See ZARGES bridging and steps - fixed or mobile - in the product section of industrial equipment.

Stairs – fixed and convenient

Platform steps with railings

Stairs serve as a fixed means of access to workstations or equipment. Deep treads and railings ensure ease of ascent and descent. The safest and most ergonomic solution for frequent usage.

Examples of use:

  • Fixed access to raised loading ramps
  • Fixed access to tanks or bulk containers

Standards:
Stairs comply with the standard DIN ISO 14 122 for fixed applications in industrial plants.

See ZARGES industrial stairs in the product section of industrial equipment.
