The customer

The Lünemann firm in Göttingen is one of those outfits that can be called an old-established business. The tradition of the family-run firm stretches back well over 200 years. The smith Johann Andreas Lünemann founded a craft business in 1783 in Göttingen. Then in 1815 his son began to sell iron and hardware and thus made the switch from craft business to trading firm. By 1900 the firm was already established in Göttingen city centre as a retailer of hardware, tools and household goods.

After the war Lünemann gradually acquired its new site on an industrial estate. Initially, a hall was built to house the steel and tools product department, followed later by a bath display. Finally, in the 1990s the building supplies and tool technology departments and the administration department moved into a new building to complete the specialised retail store for industry, trade and home improvement.

For many years Lünemann has also been operating as a dealer for ZARGES access systems. Ladders and mobile scaffold towers from the European market leader are displayed and offered for sale both in the outside grounds and directly in the store entrance area.

The task

The increasingly strict requirements of legislators and the employer's liability insurance associations call for the ever-increasing use of mobile scaffold towers. As a rule, ladders are now only permissible for accessing a higher workplace. For longer work it is now necessary to provide a platform that guarantees a permanent secure footing.
But, for many businesses, it is not economical to buy mobile scaffold towers, particularly when they are only infrequently used. Nevertheless, Lünemann specifically wanted to offer these customers a comprehensive service and an economically sensible solution.
The specialists at Lünemann have also identified the general trend towards hiring tools and auxiliary equipment which are only infrequently needed and not tying up too much capital in rarely needed equipment.

The solution

Together with ZARGES the firm Lünemann is now hiring out mobile scaffold towers to its customers. Superior, industrial-quality ZARGES mobile scaffold towers are available for four different working heights and can be hired by customers - if necessary also on a short-term basis - under favourable terms and conditions. “In this we see an additional service for our customers,” stresses department manager Klaus-Peter Rodemann, who above all envisages the full-service concept for their customers. There have also already been situations where customers who, having used a rented mobile scaffold tower, have actually bought a new one.

ZARGES supports the specialist dealer with a variety of rental measures. These include favourable terms and conditions on acquiring the hired scaffolds as well as flyers, banners and advertising subsidies to publicise the new service. A sample hire contract and comprehensive checklists which have been prepared by ZARGES also simplify entry into the world of rental.

“Hiring out mobile scaffold towers can become another pillar for dealers, not only providing extra sales income, but also bringing more customers into the sales rooms, who can then also be acquired for further products,” says ZARGES product manager Höbke Thomssen confidently.
