Advanced Manufacturing Technology Manager (m/f/u)

Reporting to the COO of WernerCO, the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Manager is responsible to provide leadership to integrate the development of new and innovative solutions to advanced manufacturing technology. Directs daily activities of equipment/tool design, specification, development, and documentation. He is responsible for providing technical support and training to all manufacturing locations. Furthermore he works directly with European & international manufacturing plant teams to achieve 'best in class' manufacturing cost performance related to cost, quality and delivery. Lead in short & long term strategic planning activities for advanced technology development and manufacturing footprints projects in support of global manufacturing expansion.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions):

Manufacturing Engineering

  • Responsible for providing support to overall preparation and continued optimization of manufacturing requirements.
  • Responsible for driving improvements in productivity and product flow throughout the manufacturing process & material supply chain (fabrication and assembly, material flow).
  • Work in conjunction with divisions to ensure process uniformity & accountability (rates, methods, work practices) at all manufacturing locations through implementation and use of existing & new manufacturing procedures.
  • Participate in Europe-wide manufacturing capacity planning activities.
    • Participate with manufacturing operations, advanced manufacturing technology, planning, and purchasing to analyze in-house and supplier capabilities to identify capacity shortfalls and recommend & implement action plans to meet business objectives.

New Product /Process Development

  • Lead the development of new manufacturing process, material and equipment capabilities, new technology together with European and global production sites.
  • Identify & drive new process technologies in support of NPD initiatives and to improve existing operational manufacturing performance.
  • Participate in annual Technology Roadmap review meeting with partners. Stay up to date by participating in Technical Trade shows and transferring knowledge into engineering organization abroad.
  • Drive improvements in productivity throughout areas of existing product designs utilizing new technologies that emerge where applicable (extrusion, fabrication, assembly, plastics).

Experience / Key Competencies:

  • Design and Development Capability - 5+ years of designing equipment, tooling, and controls for metal based products.
  • Cross-functional activities - 5+ years of working with other functional members to have a good understanding of requirements to do each job (production, scheduling, inventory management, product design & testing, manufacturing processes).
  • Project Management - 5 to 10 years of managing projects or programs with major focus on cross-functional approach.
  • Interpersonal Skills - Ability to work well with all levels of the organization in a matrix environment to drive change
  • Confident - Able to be flexible and open to others ideas but confident in one's abilities to question others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills (e.g. 6-sigma formal training)
  • Broad business and technical aptitude
  • Bilingual (German & English) preferred
  • People Management Skills (direct and Indirect)
