In the event of a cardiac emergency, every second and every detail are of crucial importance to both the patient and the people providing medical treatment. For over 35 years, the medical equipment portfolio of corpuls - GS Elektromedizinische Geräte G. Stemple GmbH has been geared specifically to such situations. The defibrillators and other life-supporting devices made by the family-owned company, which is based in the Upper Bavarian town of Kaufering, are used by more than just civil emergency services; customised versions of these devices are also supplied to Bundeswehr and disaster relief organisations.  Since 2012, corpuls has been working with packaging and transport specialist ZARGES to provide secure transport and storage solutions for high-tech equipment that meet the needs of Bundeswehr medical forces.

"The conditions in which the devices are deployed can vary from country to country and are dependent on the local climate as well as on the vehicles and aircraft that Bundeswehr military medics use to transport the equipment," explains Mareike Bleile, Product Manager Logistics Industry at ZARGES. "We work with the manufacturer to develop matching transport cases that are tailored to the end users' requirements." Military medical professionals use transport and storage containers of the BY series as highly mobile solutions for international missions in all climate zones.

High-performance and systematic transport solutions

For routine and professional deployment of its specialists and materials, Bundeswehr uses a logistics system in which every single piece have to work like clogs in a clockwork. This is also reflected in the design of the transport solutions: Working closely with ZARGES, corpuls was able to create complete system solutions that can integrate seamlessly into the logistics system of Bundeswehr medical forces. Standard BY transport cases serve as the basis for the solutions.

The quality as a result of involving only one system manufacturer is evident in the wide range of possible applications. In Bundeswehr medical centres, corpuls systems are used in conjunction with ZARGES MPO trolleys to handle emergency situations in the wards. For mobile use, for example on the EAGLE V and VI ambulance from General Dynamics or in the Boxer armoured transport vehicle for medical services from Krauss-Maffei-Wegmann, the BY containers with medical technology were included in the equipment set.

Compliant down to the last detail

One particular challenge faced during the design of the containers is to ensure that they comply with all applicable standards for transport and storage containers used by Bundeswehr (TULB), such as AECTP-400 NATO, hazardous goods laws and IATA regulations. The NATO standard AECTP 400 contains characteristics and data regarding climatic, mechanical and electrical/electromagnetic environments.

"Due to close existing contacts in the Bundeswehr network all the way to the end users, ZARGES is virtually predestined to be a strategic partner," says Stephan Flitta Key Account Manager at corpuls - GS Elektromedizinische Geräte G. Stemple GmbH. The personal contact makes it easier to constantly adapt the solution package to current requirements in the packaging concept, even for Bundeswehr special forces. The same applies to tailormade packaging concepts for new devices. "The many years of expertise of the parties involved enable us to always offer a transport solution that is perfectly balanced in terms of the packaging's weight and durability whilst ensuring the contents are optimally protected by the containers.“
