Modern helicopter maintenance with ZARGES platforms

• ZARGES delivered four work platforms to the Baden-Württemberg State Police helicopter squadron

• Safe and convenient access for maintenance and repair work

• Compliance with work safety and accident prevention regulations

The helicopter squadron of the Baden-Württemberg State Police received four new work platforms from ZARGES, Europe’s market leader in access technology, for their six new Airbus Type H 145 helicopters. They enable safe and convenient maintenance and repair work to be done in the hangar at the Stuttgart airport.

ZARGES designed these work platforms specifically for work on H 145 helicopters. A work platform is set up on each side of the helicopter so that is is possible to work effectively from both sides of the aircraft. The work platforms are equipped with electromechanics to adjust the height to the ideal position for each technician and task. The platform also has extensions so that it can be perfectly aligned with the helicopter airframe to eliminate nearly all gaps. Pads on the front of the extensions ensure that the helicopter cannot be damaged.

The work platforms have a 4-stile step access with a central brake. The wide, non-slip steps guarantee safe and convenient access for maintenance personnel. Stable brake castors give the platforms additional mobility so that they can be moved to the helicopter and then removed again very quickly. Other features include grounding, electrical connections, tool trays and laptop mounts for modern working conditions. Optional fall protection can be inserted lengthwise to enable free-standing use of the work platforms, e.g. for working on and inspecting the rotor blades. The design complies with all requirements regarding work safety and accident prevention as well as with the core standards DIN ISO 14122-2/-3, DIN EN 12312-8 and DIN EN 1915 as a matter of course.

ZARGES access equipment is made of aluminium to ensure exceptional safety, stability and durability paired with a lightweight design. In addition to an extensive range of standard products including ladders, work platforms, mobile scaffold towers and access solutions for a variety of work situations, the long-established company also offers custom solutions that can be adapted to meet a site’s unique demands.
